2008 seasonal closures

The Beartooth Highway (Highway 212), between the junction of Highway 296 and Red Lodge, MT heading East to Red Lodge is closed in October until Memorial Day Weekend.

At the 296/212 Junction 5 miles the road is plowed to Pilot Creek Parking Lot, over snow travel with non-wheeled vehicles is allowed into Cooke City (approx. 10 miles). The road is then plowed open the first week of May. It is always best to check with road & travel or neighboring chambers for current openings & closures.  Inclement weather causes occassional closures even after intitial openings.
